Technical Assessment

SEAI-required survey — heat loss calculation, BER check, radiator sizing review. Included free.

Insulation top-up if needed

Attic and cavity insulation grants often combined for maximum efficiency and grant value.

SEAI grant application

We apply for €6,500 (standalone) or up to €12,500 (One Stop Shop with insulation).

Installation (2–4 days)

Outdoor unit + indoor cylinder, radiator upgrades if required, controls and commissioning.

BER certificate & sign-off

Post-install BER assessment triggers grant payment directly to your bank account.

Heat pump cost depends on heat-loss, emitter upgrades and cylinder requirements. We give a fixed price after the free technical assessment, with the SEAI grant deducted at source.

Heat Pumps FAQ

Are heat pumps effective in Irish winters?

Yes. Modern air-to-water heat pumps extract heat from air down to −15°C. Irish winters rarely fall below −5°C, so units run at COP 3.0+ (300% efficiency) all year.

How much does a heat pump cost to run?

Typical 3-bed semi: €800–€1,200/year for heating and hot water — compared with €2,200–€2,800/year for oil at current prices.

Do I need new radiators?

Sometimes — heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures (35–50°C vs 65–75°C for oil), so oversized rads or underfloor heating work best. We assess this in the Technical Assessment.

How noisy is the outdoor unit?

Around 42–48 dB(A) at 3m — quieter than a fridge. We site units away from bedroom windows and neighbour boundaries.

Can I keep my existing oil boiler as backup?

You can, but it's rarely worth it. A properly sized heat pump handles 100% of Irish heating demand year-round. The SEAI grant requires the fossil-fuel boiler to be disconnected.
