The SEAI heat pump grant
SEAI offers €6,500 toward an air-to-water heat pump and €4,500 for air-to-air. You also get a €200 technical assessment grant. Grants are deducted at source — you only pay the post-grant amount and we recover the rest from SEAI.
Eligibility & the technical assessment
Your home must be built and occupied before end-2021 and have a heat-loss indicator (HLI) of 2.0 W/m²K or lower. Our registered technical advisor visits, measures the fabric and produces the HLI report. If your home isn't ready, we'll quote the fabric upgrades (attic, walls, windows) you need first.
Installed cost & payback
After the free technical assessment we give you a fixed price that includes any emitter upgrades, the heat pump, cylinder, controls and commissioning. Combined with solar PV, heat pumps typically cut total household energy bills by 50–70%.
How to apply for the heat pump grant — step by step
1. Book a free call — we check your home's age, current heating and BER. 2. Technical assessment — our advisor surveys the house and calculates the heat-loss indicator (HLI). The €200 assessment grant covers part of this. 3. Grant approval — we submit the SEAI application on your behalf. Do not start works before approval, or the grant is lost. 4. Installation — typically 3–5 days, including cylinder, controls and any radiator upgrades. 5. BER & claim — a post-works BER is published and we claim the grant from SEAI. You only pay the balance.
Air-to-water vs air-to-air heat pumps
Air-to-water heat pumps heat your radiators or underfloor heating and your hot water, replacing an oil or gas boiler completely. They get the larger €6,500 grant. Air-to-air units heat individual rooms with warm air and do not produce hot water. They suit apartments or homes with an existing hot-water solution and get a €4,500 grant.
Heat pump grant vs One Stop Shop
The individual grant above is for homeowners who already meet the HLI target or only need small upgrades. If your home needs deep retrofit (insulation, windows, ventilation and heat pump together), the SEAI One Stop Shop scheme can combine grants. We'll tell you after the survey which route gives you the best result.
Running costs after the switch
