Heat pump grants up to €6,500 from SEAI

Replace oil or gas with a SEAI-grant-funded air-to-water heat pump. Future Energy handles the technical assessment, grant paperwork and install — nationwide.

The SEAI heat pump grant

SEAI offers €6,500 toward an air-to-water heat pump and €4,500 for air-to-air. You also get a €200 technical assessment grant. Grants are deducted at source — you only pay the post-grant amount and we recover the rest from SEAI.

Eligibility & the technical assessment

Your home must be built and occupied before end-2021 and have a heat-loss indicator (HLI) of 2.0 W/m²K or lower. Our registered technical advisor visits, measures the fabric and produces the HLI report. If your home isn't ready, we'll quote the fabric upgrades (attic, walls, windows) you need first.

Installed cost & payback

After the free technical assessment we give you a fixed price that includes any emitter upgrades, the heat pump, cylinder, controls and commissioning. Combined with solar PV, heat pumps typically cut total household energy bills by 50–70%.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much is the SEAI heat pump grant?

€6,500 for an air-to-water heat pump and €4,500 for an air-to-air heat pump. A €200 technical assessment grant is also available toward the heat-loss survey required before install.

Who qualifies for the heat pump grant?

Homes built and occupied before end-2021 with a heat-loss indicator (HLI) of 2.0 W/m²K or lower after upgrades. We carry out the technical assessment to confirm eligibility.

How much does a heat pump cost in Ireland?

Every home is different — the final price depends on heat-loss, emitter upgrades and hot-water cylinder needs. We provide a fixed price after the free technical assessment, with the SEAI grant deducted at source.

Will I save money switching from oil or gas?

Modern air-to-water heat pumps deliver 3–4 units of heat per unit of electricity. Combined with solar PV, most homes cut total heating bills by 50–70%.

Do I need new radiators?

Sometimes. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures, so undersized radiators may need upgrading. The technical assessment tells you exactly what's needed before you commit.
