The Complete SEAI Heat Pump Grant Guide (2026)
The SEAI heat pump grant is worth €6,500 as a standalone upgrade or €12,500 when part of a One Stop Shop deep retrofit. To qualify, your home must reach a minimum heat loss indicator (HLI) of 2 W/m²K — most insulated Irish homes built after 2006 already qualify.
Who is eligible?
- Homeowner-occupied properties built before 2021
- Technical assessment passing the heat loss requirement
- Installation by an SEAI-registered contractor
- Older or poorly insulated homes may need insulation upgrades first
How much will it actually cost?
A typical air-to-water heat pump install runs €13,000–€18,000. After the €6,500 grant, your net cost is €6,500–€11,500. Running costs are typically 50–60% lower than oil heating, so the system effectively pays for itself in 8–10 years.
