Heat Pump Grants Ireland: SEAI Funding in 2026

In 2026 the SEAI offers two routes to a heat pump grant in Ireland: €6,500 for a standalone upgrade or €12,500 when bundled with insulation under the One Stop Shop scheme. Both require an SEAI-registered installer and a technical assessment confirming your home is heat-loss ready.

How much is the grant worth?

  • €6,500 — standalone air-to-water or ground-source heat pump
  • €12,500 — heat pump as part of a One Stop Shop deep retrofit (with insulation)
  • €200 — technical assessment grant (heat loss indicator survey)
  • Additional grants stack: attic and wall insulation, solar PV, windows

Eligibility checklist

  • Home built and occupied before 2021
  • Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) of 2 W/m²K or better — confirmed by a technical assessment
  • SEAI-registered contractor for both the assessment and the install
  • BER assessment after install, lodged with SEAI

What the grant actually covers

Heat pump cost depends on your home's heat-loss, emitter upgrades and cylinder requirements. We provide a fixed price after the free technical assessment, with the €6,500 SEAI grant deducted at source. Running costs are usually 50–60% lower than oil and roughly on par with gas — the saving compounds every year as fossil fuel prices rise.

How to apply, step by step

  • Book a technical assessment with an SEAI-registered assessor (€200 grant covers most of the fee)
  • Confirm your HLI meets 2 W/m²K — if not, do insulation upgrades first (also grant-aided)
  • Get quotes from SEAI-registered heat pump installers
  • Submit the grant application before work starts — never pay in full upfront
  • Install completes, BER reassessed, grant is paid directly to you within 4–6 weeks

Bottom line

If your home is already insulated to A or B BER, the €6,500 standalone grant is straightforward and worth claiming this year. If you need insulation too, going through a One Stop Shop unlocks the full €12,500 — and a single contractor handles all paperwork. Future Energy is SEAI-registered and handles the entire grant application on your behalf.
